Press the keys to open Run , then type msconfig in the search box. This will open System Configuration. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you should enter the password or provide confirmation.

Click on the Services tab. Place a check mark in the Hide all Microsoft services check box, this will remove the Microsoft Services from the list but will still be running. Click Disable all , this will remove all of the check marks in the Services list. When the computer is restarted it will boot normally. If the problem does not continue after the restart please do the following.

Divide the number of these startup services and programs by two and you place checks in the first half of these, then restart the computer. If the problem doesn't return in those services and programs remove the checks and place checks in the remaining services and programs and restart the computer. When you find which half the service or program is in go on to the next step. The half which has the service causing this problem remove half of the checks as you did previously to see which half has this service.

Do the same for the programs. Restart the computer. If it isn't in the first half of these services and programs, do the same with the last half of the services and programs. Once you have narrowed it down to the last three or four services and programs remove the checks one at a time till you find the service or program at fault. Just to rule out any issue with Windows system files execute following command. You can make sure the memory is not bad by downloading Memtest86 , burning the ISO onto a CD, booting up the computer and running the diagnostics. If you get any errors, then you should definitely replace the faulty memory chips. If you get no errors, that is good, but it still does not mean there is not an issue with the memory.

The next thing you have to check on the memory is the type, speed, voltage, etc. Your motherboard might have certain memory settings and if the memory chips installed are running at a different speed, voltage, frequency or timing, then it can cause all kinds of random freezes in Windows.

The best thing to do here is to look up the documentation on your motherboard and your memory and go into the BIOS and adjust the settings for your memory to match what is recommended by the motherboard. Install latest version of device drivers from devices manufacturer websites. Install Windows updates. Update installed programs. So I went through the first step and scanned the pc in CMD , no issues were found! Attached Files 1. Or trying another better solution - to extend system drive using EaseUS free partition software.

Disconnect all external USB devices even including the mouse and keyboard from the computer and then boot up to check if they are the causes of random computer freezes. Damaged hardware is one of the factors that can trigger the computer freezing issue. But if the issue only happens in Windows 10, we can confirm that there is nothing wrong with your hardware. Did you install any new programs before your computer freezing? If yes, it might the problem.

Were you able to perform malware or anti-virus scan? Do you know any recent changes before the issue started happening? You can also try to review the event viewer logs to see if there are any critical errors. Hello Rex, Yes I have performed a full anti-virus scan and a malware scan as well and nothing was found in regards to those.
